Aldi Deals Starting 6/30

I like Aldi for their produce. They have great prices on other things as well, but a lot of times with coupons I can still get it cheaper or FREE at Publix.

Aldi milk is pledged to be hormone free, so I have started getting my milk there.

Aldi Produce Deals Beginning 6/23-6/29

Yes, I have said I am taking a break, and I am. But, I will post when I can, I am just not going to stress about it like I was. But, last week, I didn't get an Aldi ad in the paper and I searched and searched and couldn't find the produce deals for the week, which is all I really shop Aldi for. So, I am posting them in case anyone else is looking!

Nectarines .29 each

Strawberries .99/lb

Cherries 1.49/lb

Idea: strawberries don't get much cheaper than .99/lb, so that is my stock up price. I will buy 15-20 packages of strawberries. Keep 2 or 3 out for immediate use. The other packages, I wash them well, let them dry, slice the tops off and freeze them in pint or quart freezer bags. They are great for pies, smoothies, muffins, etc....My kids love smoothies so this is a great way to get them those when they want it.

Grilled Squash Quesadillas

I have a lot of squash and zucchini from the garden to use. It is so much better fresh! So I have been shopping for recipes and I found one that I must share! It is a spinoff of 5 Dollar Dinner's Summer Squash Quesadillas.

Ingredients: I didn't measure ingredients, I am really bad about that, so season to taste

my family doesn't like peppers or onions, so I left those out of the mixture when I made it and topped my quesadilla with the onions and peppers

6-8 Grilled squash brushed with olive oil and sprinkled with garlic salt

1 grilled red pepper

1 grilled green pepper

1 onion grilled

6-8 ripe roma tomatoes

fresh parsley

salt

Italian seasoning grinder from Mccormics

3 cheese medley or mexican cheese (about 2 cups)

gluten free tortillas

This is the kind of gluten free tortillas we like to use

To Do:

Start grilling the vegetables on the grill (hubby can do this part)

combine chopped tomatoes, parsley,cheese and seasonings in a bowl

once grilled veggies are done, add to bowl other ingredients mix well

start filling the tortillas with the mixture

put out on grill for 5 min on each side or until slightly crispy and melted together well.

Enjoy!!

Thank you for being so good!

I am not really sure where to start. I started blogging in February. I had this vision of what I wanted my blog to be. This great money saving resource for friends, family and others. I wanted to have this resource for gluten free families to come to for recipes, advice, and great deals on what can be really costly. It has turned out that I have gotten sucked in to this frugal competition. Who can get a post up first, who can have the most deals for their readers, who has the best information. This is not what I wanted my blog to be and it has become more of a full time job than a fun hobby like intended. It takes a lot of time to search for deals from companies and other bloggers. Time spent on this is time away from my kids and husband.

I have a good friend who lost her 2 year old in a tragic accident in April this year and since then I have not been the same. I am missing time with my kids when I am blogging. I am putting them on the back burner. "Hold on, honey, I will be done in a minute" I don't want them to remember their childhood that mommy was on the computer all the time. My time with them is short and we are not guaranteed that we have tomorrow. I am really not sure how other bloggers do it. I did read that Moneysavingmom has people who work for her now and help her get her deals posted. I got my friend, Angie to help me but she is in nursing school now for the next year and a half and will be extremely busy with that.
My family is the most important to me. I HAVE to and WANT to put them first. I am not writing off the blog. I am going to keep it open and I hope you will stay the followers that you are. When I start posting again, you will get the information I post. I am going to take some time off and revamp what I really created the blog to be in the first place. A resource for gluten free families and great money saving advice. Budgeting, step by step instruction on how to save and shop at the stores. I have felt the pressure to get all the best deals up and posted that I haven't posted much money saving advice or gluten free recipes that I wanted to.

Fried Ice Cream Recipe

Oh my goodness this looks AMAZING! My kids always ask when we are at the Mexican restaurant if they can get fried ice cream for dessert. Well, being the frugal folks that we are, there are 2 things we normally don't do when we go out to eat. One, buy drinks...we always get water, it's FREE! And two, buy desserts. We are normally pretty full after eating and I always tell the kids, we have ice cream at home, or whatever it is at the time. But one thing they always want to try is fried ice cream! I am DEFINATELY going to have to surprise them with this one. I will make this with gluten free corn flakes.
